Job review and welfare policy
Last updated 6 November 2026
Every job on EntsOffice is reviewed before it is listed, and every entertainer booked through the site can report a problem and get a reply within 2 working days. This policy explains how both work. It forms part of the Recruiter terms and the Entertainer terms.
1. Who this covers
1.1 All job posts on EntsOffice.com, including season roles and one-off event roles such as presenters and DJs.
1.2 All entertainers who apply for or are booked into those jobs, and all Recruiters who post them.
1.3 EntsOffice is a recruitment tool, not the employer. The Recruiter is responsible for the entertainer's working conditions. This policy is how we keep the jobs board safe; it does not replace the employer's own grievance, welfare or safeguarding procedures.
2. Job review
2.1 We aim to review a job post within 2 working days. We approve it, ask for changes, or refuse it.
2.2 A job post is approved only if it meets every check below.
| Check | What we look for |
|---|---|
| Recruiter | A registered business we can identify, with accepted Recruiter terms |
| The role | Clear title, duties, location, start date and duration |
| Pay | Stated amount and pay frequency; at least the National Minimum or Living Wage where it applies, after any accommodation charge |
| Engagement | Whether the role is employment or self-employment |
| Hours | Typical hours and days, including evening and weekend work |
| Accommodation | Whether it is provided, shared or not, and any charge |
| Requirements | Experience, qualifications and checks needed, including DBS for work with children |
| Health and safety | Any known risks of the role and the steps the Recruiter takes |
| No fees | No charge to entertainers to apply, audition, train or be placed |
| Lawful and fair | No discrimination beyond a genuine occupational requirement; nothing unlawful |
2.3 We refuse posts that show warning signs, including: unpaid or "exposure only" work; pay that is vague or depends on targets; contact details or external application links in the post itself; roles for under-18s; or anything suggesting exploitation. Where we suspect forced labour or trafficking, we report it to the Modern Slavery and Exploitation Helpline or the police.
3. Trusted Recruiters
3.1 Established Recruiters may be approved as Trusted Recruiters, whose posts are listed without prior review. To qualify, a Recruiter must be known to us as an established operator, or have completed at least one season of bookings through EntsOffice, with no upheld welfare reports.
3.2 We spot-check Trusted Recruiters' posts and can remove the status at any time.
4. Report a problem
4.1 Any entertainer can use the Report a problem form on their account about a job, a Recruiter, an audition, or another user. Recruiters can use it too. You can also email support@entsoffice.com.
4.2 What happens next:
- The report is logged with the date, the people and job involved, and what was reported.
- We acknowledge it straight away and reply within 2 working days.
- We point the entertainer to the right help (below). With their agreement, we may contact the Recruiter.
- We record the outcome and any action taken.
4.3 We do not investigate or decide employment disputes, mediate between the parties, or provide legal advice, and we are not an emergency service. If anyone is in immediate danger, call 999.
4.4 Where we point people for help:
| Need | Where to go |
|---|---|
| Problems at work (pay, hours, treatment) | The employer's HR or entertainment manager; Acas helpline 0300 123 1100 |
| Union support and advice for performers | Equity (equity.org.uk) |
| Feeling low or in crisis | Samaritans 116 123 (24 hours); Shout, text SHOUT to 85258 |
| Performer health | BAPAM, British Association for Performing Arts Medicine |
| Exploitation or forced labour | Modern Slavery and Exploitation Helpline 08000 121 700 |
| General rights and money | Citizens Advice |
5. What happens to Recruiters after reports
| Trigger | Action |
|---|---|
| One report | We may contact the Recruiter, with the entertainer's agreement |
| Two or more reports about the same Recruiter in a season, or one serious report | Job posts go back to review; Trusted Recruiter status removed |
| Continued or very serious reports (for example unpaid wages, unsafe accommodation, harassment) | Account suspended and job posts removed from the site |
5.1 We tell the Recruiter what action we have taken and why, without naming the entertainer unless they agree, and give the Recruiter a chance to respond.
6. Safeguarding
6.1 If a report concerns harm or risk to a child or vulnerable adult, we tell the Recruiter's designated safeguarding lead, and where appropriate the local authority designated officer (LADO) or the police. We may share information without consent where needed to protect someone. EntsOffice's safeguarding lead is Karl Davies, contactable at support@entsoffice.com.
6.2 We never knowingly list a job working with children that does not require a DBS check.
7. Records and confidentiality
7.1 Reports are kept confidential and shared only as this policy describes or the law requires. They are kept for 3 years after closure, then deleted, as set out in our privacy notice.
7.2 We review this policy every year, and after any serious incident. Next review: November 2027.
